I give this book a 9 out of 10 stars

This book was quite the start to a sure to be amazing book series. It has all the right kinds of potential. Enough mystery, suspense and romance, along with intriguing characters to make the read worth it. Some highlights for me was the storyline, characters and some forbidden romance.

I liked that the story pulled you in right from the beginning. There was no lagging it just jumped into this brilliant plot. However yes within the first chapters there was a scene involving a certain Crown Prince that indeed made me cringe, but besides that the first half of this novel was amazing. When I hit the halfway mark, I thought the book couldn't get any better, and to my surprise it did.  I thought I was already fully submersed in this world that K.A. Linde created, but it turns out I could only get more addicted. Another thing that I really enjoyed was this forbidden love, at times I honestly did forget that it was forbidden because the two characters just had so much chemistry, it worked so well and it was amazing.

Now as for the characters, some made it even better, others made me so mad. At the start, I did find the main character Cyrene to be a little hard to connect with. I found her a little rude and I did get annoyed with all the people instantaneously wanting her. Though as the novel progressed, so did my connection and love for her. I ended admiring her braveness as well as her intellect. One character who I absolutely adored from the beginning was Cyrene's best friend, she was just so stunning. I can't exactly pin point the exact thing that made me love her so much, but she's just so brilliant. A character who rather annoyed and frustrated me was the Queen. Okay, in some ways she had some right to be cold, however I still didn't like her character at all. Now for King Edric. At times he made me so mad for wanting to route for him and Cyrene, because again he is the king for one thing and he is married. Though I could never stay mad. He counter balanced all of Cyrene's rather interesting traits and made her better at times in a way. I also always looked forward to scenes with them together. I must applaud the brilliant creation of all the characters in this book, well done K.A. Linde.

In conclusion, I most certainly cannot wait to get my hands on the second in this series. I also highly recommend this book to those who enjoy YA romances with a twist. I hope everyone gets a chance to read this book and don't forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom of this post.
